Free Data Resources

BRERC data can be widely accessed free of charge through a variety of different websites. We do charge for our professional data search service - visit the About BRERC section to find out why.

BRERC Interactive Maps
Our Interactive Maps give you a quick overview of the species recorded in any 1km square, as well as producing distribution maps for any species recorded in the BRERC area.

NBN Atlas
BRERC data is uploaded to the National Biodiversity Network (NBN) Atlas which collates species data from many organisations across the United Kingdom.

The NBN in turn uploads all data to GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility) for a worldwide viewpoint of species data.

Bristol Pinpoint Online Maps
Closer to home, Bristol City Council's online Pinpoint mapping service provides a wealth of information, including nature conservation data sourced directly from BRERC.
National Datasets, such as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and National Nature Reserves (NNR) can be accessed for free via the portal.

BRERC is a Local Environmental Records Centre (LERC). For more information on LERCs in the United Kingdom, visit the Association of Local Environmental Records Centre (ALERC) website.
