The first State of Nature Report for the West of England has been released by BRERC.
With help from the Bristol Naturalists’ Society, Avon Reptile and Amphibian Group and the Avon Wildlife Trust, BRERC has produced a report detailing the current and historical status of local wildlife and habitats. We are also grateful for the support of the Natural History and Digital teams of Culture & Creative Industries, as well as the endorsement of South Gloucestershire and Bath & North East Somerset Councils.
The report highlights evidence of a changing climate, and shows that the West of England has not escaped the trends of decline observed by many species nationally. Despite this, there are some positive stories of species that have greatly increased in their distribution.
